Annually, as near to June 15 as possible, the WCHS presents an Arkansas Statehood Day. Arkansas became a state on June 15, 1836. Statehood Day is often tied to the Society’s Distinguished Lecturer series as well. This year’s speaker will be former U.S. Senator Mark Pryor. He will be presenting on “Arkansas and the Pryor Legacy.” Refreshments will be provided by Rick’s Bakery & Chick-fil-A.
